About: Pinderfields General Hospital

What I liked

The staff on the acute assessment unit were amazing and caring. I cannot thank them enough for the way they looked after my husband who really did not want to be there over the Chrismas holiday. They worked so hard and were so friendly and helpful and explained everything clearly.

What could be improved

The seating in the A and E waiting room is exceedingly uncomfortable (although I can appreciate that it must be easy to clean). My husband has problems with his pelvis and was in paiin after a short time; however I explained this to the receptionist and borrowed one of the padded wheelchairs for him. The parking charges are very expensive when unexpectedly visiting A & E and being faced with along wait before being seen by a doctor.

Anything else?

After reading some of the articles in the press recently about nursing care in NHS hospitals I was very apprehensive about going to A & E. My husband was (he has admitted since) scared. He is in his eighties and the lack of "care" shown to elderly patients has been in the headlines lately. By the time I left him overnight in the acute assessment unit I had total confidence in your exceptional staff.
