At 26 I had my first child, I didn't have the easiest pregnancy and was really nervous about the birth.
I was 10 days over due and my waters broke at 5am, I was unsure if they had gone at first and rang the midwife unit to discuss. They calmed me down, reassured me and asked me to come in.
When I arrived at the hospital my waters fully went in the car park and they went with a whoosh, they were a greeny colour and I was instantly distressed. When I arrived at the midwife unit, the midwife on duty instantly calmed me down, reassured me and made me feel so relaxed. The shift changed and I was then allocated a new midwife called Nichola. I didn't get chance to say it at the time but she made my whole labour and birth so relaxed and calm. I trusted her completely and couldn't have asked for a better midwife. My after care was also amazing, I needed stitches and was terrified - a senior midwife named Patsy saw to this and again totally made me feel at ease.
Anyone due to give birth who is on the midwife led unit should try and put their worries aside. The care and attention each midwife gives is amazing. I would recommend them.
