"Having an open echo at royal Devon and Exeter"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I arrived early to my appointment and forgot my letter, the staff were helpful and took my details and did a check on the system. My details were found quickly and I was informed that there maybe a delay of 15 minute due to some emergencies during the evening. I was happy to wait and had a drink in the restaurant. I arrived back 10 minutes before the scheduled time of my appointment and was told they would be able to see me now.

I arrived in the treatment room and was warmly greeted by the staff. They were aware of my anxieties and put me at ease with some Xmas banter, which I found very comforting.

During my examination the nurses told me exactly what was going on, which was reassuring. After my echo, they asked me if I had any questions and gave me a glimpse of my scan and even adjusted the heart monitor that I was wearing.

All in all the staff, from the bus driver at the park and ride, to the receptionist who guided me to the correct area, to the staff taking my echo in cardiology, were amazing, caring and willing to help. I can't compliment them enough.
