About: Royal United Hospital

What I liked

Nothing. The excuses must stop.

What could be improved

I really have lost confidence that I am receiving the best and most suitable healthcare for my needs from this hospital. A healthcare service isn't just about emergency admissions or operations, but as to 'how' a patient actually is managing to deal with their condition and how it effects them on a personal daily basis.

In my opinion the RUH is as clinically removed from this ideology as it is possible to be

Of course there is the PALs service at the RUH the same as any other hospital, but that is generally only there to take the heat off of the relevant department manager and for temporarily smoothing over the issue.. No mater how soliciitous they may at first appear, they certainly do not deal with what the patient feels would be a satisfactory conclusion and therefore the problems become more complicated.

To even attempt to contact a particular ward is futile and this hospital has certtainly not improved its service of recent years by installing answerphones in every department. The switchboard is very helpful but even they cannot contact a unit which doesn't welcome disturbances or enquiries from it's patients..

I have no doubts whatsoever my health has worsened rather than improved since being placed into this deplorable situation..

How easy can it be to check on an appointment or ask as to why I am receiving appointment letters sent out for other patients by mistake? Why can Ithis hospital not understand how ill I am feeling and what I would be best for me. I am an individual. Not just another statistic..

In isolated incidents yes, some departments are acceptable when you can actually get the treatment and level of care that is required but in general, the hospital is a hotchpotch of confusion and trite words from the PALs offices to cover a crumbling and badly managed system.

I certainly would not recommend it at all.
