"Thank goodness for St Cross Rugby"

About: Hospital Of St Cross (Rugby) University Hospital (Coventry)

(as a relative),

This is the second story with regard to a patient who went to Walsgrave Hospital last Monday (30th March). He went in because he seemed to have lost the use of his legs. He was taken into Walsgrave and my two sisters stayed with dad until the early hours. I visited him on the Tuesday and already he was begining to look ill. He didn't seem the same dad as he was on the Monday he was taken into hospital. i didn't visit him on the Wednesday but my youngest sister rang and was in tears, because when they got to visit him, he was lying naked on the bed and didn't hardly know them or what day it was! Thankfully, the next day he was transferred back to Rugby, because if he hadn't, i think we would be arranging a funeral by now. The care when he got back to Rugby was "second to none", the care at Walsgrave was very impersonal - you hardly saw any staff walking around. It was found when he came back to Rugby that he had double pneumonia and an enlarged heart, how did Walsgrave miss this? If we are not careful more people will be dying because of the lack of care at Walsgrave. and if we are not careful too, we shall lose our hospital at Rugby. We need to do more to get the services back to where they belong at Rugby.
