"Disgusting lack of treatment"

About: Peterborough City Hospital

What I liked

My father was admitted on the 26th November after suffering a very bad fall, he was then placed on the A/E short stay ward.

The medical staff can not even sort out his medication. Due to the usual excuses of they are short of staff. He is being left without proper fluids being given. He is not being washed properly as the staff looking after him had not even noticed a very visible problem.

The result of the care at peterborough city hospital is that my father has been left to fall not once but twice in 24 hours. The staff then asking me if there was any new bruising on his body.

After complaining, my father was put down as a high risk patient and would have constant care by a nurse, one to one. A few hours later he was moved to another ward, when i was told they have 24 patients and 4 nurses, that they would do their best, but could not assure me he would not have another fall, as they did not have the staff to cope.

This hospital has a bad record of the number of falls patients are having and it is getting worse due to a complete lack of care.

I care about elderly people and will be taking this matter to the highest places and will not give up until the matters have been addressed and resolved.

What ever age a patient is they deserve the best possible care, not to be admitted into a hospital for care and end up with more injuries.

What could be improved

A great deal.
