"My Little Boy's Orchidopexy!"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Paediatric surgery

(as a relative),

Last week my little boy had a fairly minor, and I am told, very common operation (orchidopexy) as he was born with 1 undescended testicle. The operation involved a cut into groin to release the testicle and then into the scrotum to correctly position the testicle.

As my little boy is only 1 and required a general anaesthetic, this left me somewhat apprehensive. However all the staff at Nottingham City Hospital were fantastic and gave us lots of support and advice. They made us feel like it was a big ordeal and in no way belittled what our little boy had to have done, but reassured us at the same time. I am pleased (and amazed!) to say that within an hour of his operation our son was right as rain and has been great ever since!
