My husband has been in Lincoln County Hospital for three weeks and if I could change anything...it would be to use a different hospital.
Yes, there have been some really good staff, but you only see them when all of the surrounding staff have made so many mistakes, that they realise they are on shaky ground.
My husband has been on three wards in as many weeks, his last move was unannounced and took place at ten thirty at night, and all of his medication went missing, so new prescriptions have been written.
He was referred by a professor, but the first ward doctor he saw did the usual, I don't see what the fuss is. His illness is fairly rare, so rather than admit they don't know anything about it, they just pretend they know.
He has been left cold, shivering, some days his medication has been forgotten, another day a nurse had to admit to him, that she had accidentally given him a double dose.
There have been some excellent nurses, but they are very much in the minority. I feel for them, it must be disheartening to have to work with so many other members of staff who don't seem to care, don't seem to know and aren't interested in finding out. To be honest, I am absolutely disgusted. Lives must be lost due to the neglect of some of staff.
My heart goes out to those patients who can't ask for themselves, I really fear for their well being.
