What I liked

Further to my comment . November 2012. Although these experiences should not have happened, and I hope doesn't happen to anyone again. The staffing levels in some wards are woefully inadequate for their responsibility and effectiveness to care for a lot of patients, especially surgical and vascular. The fact that nurses/ careers have not the time to spend with patients will create a rapid deterioration in the normally good standards.

I have in my time had a great deal of contact with both Warrington and Halton Hospitals as an in patient and a day patient. The food at Halton is a much superior standard than Warrington that cannot be argued.

In the past both at Warrington and Halton Hospitals I have received Professionalism - Cheer - and exceptional care from all levels of staff, for that is the normal standard and I cannot fault those times as the standard was High. Therefore if we want to add personal care to patients we must surely provide enough staff to cater for that need even in the most human respectability level. The staff cannot maintain high standards of care at sixty miles an hour with no meal breaks as some try to do, and things will be missed and hurt caused. In my opinion, Ultimately it is not the staff who are to blame but the decision makers who for financial reasons do not allow the correct number of staff on all levels to fulfill their true caring for patients. Perhaps with the cutting of staffing levels at the sharp end of patient care, situations like mine will become more frequent, I hope not, Warrington and Halton are exceptional hospitals and these people are the roots of those tree's but cut the roots away and the whole tree dies. Thank you. I.S.R.

What could be improved

Ward staffing levels for better patient care in all aspects.

Thanks for your further comments on your hospital experience. We have invested heavily this year in extra staff on the wards at the hospital to meet the increasing demand on our services and to ensure that our services remain exceptional for all of our patients.
