"Didn't have a good experience"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

What I liked

The inital wait was only 15 minutes.

What could be improved

The curtained off room by A&E is where I eventually ended up. 3 different people came and checked my infected leg. One said to me 'That looks bad, hold on a minute......' and disappeared. Waited for 45 minutes in that room with nothing happening so was really beginning to get concerned sitting there with my pants down thinking they had forgotten about me. Eventually a doctor and two nurses come in, and start examining again, but the curtains still slightly open and other patients can see me! It was a shambles and they did little to comfort me.

I end up needing a lancing, but they have to do it there and then because there is nowhere else to go! I'm screaming in pain with loads and loads of people in ear shot behind other curtains and in the waiting room. It was horrible and embarassing.

The doctor then swiftly disappears. The nurse quickly cleans my leg up and dresses it. Before I know it I'm hobbling back to the car park with a bag full of dressings and instructions to attend walk in centre tomorrow. No advice, no information. I felt utterly helpless, I really needed a bit more support from the staff, I was on my own and clearly not comfortable with the situation.
