"Making sure my diabetic father gets help"

About: Sandwell General Hospital / Diabetic medicine Sandwell PCT

(as a relative),

Well my Father is 67 now and in ill health with heart problems. He has worked since he was 15 and very hard too.

He retired about 4 years ago having severe arthritis and high blood pressure, and diagnosed type 2 diabetes. He has since then been diagnosed with a diseased heart. When he was first diagnosed with diabetes, they gave him a blood testing kit and strips.

For a while now the doctor will not prescribe the strips, saying he has to pay for them himself. Is this right? He don't even get paracetamol. My Father is slowly getting worse and his sugar levels fluctuate, so why would they not prescribe him the strips.

He worries and my mum does too. They are not rich. I feel they are being discriminated against. Please help.
