"Lack of Information about Father's move"

About: Victoria Infirmary / Geriatric Assessment

(as a relative),

My father was moved from Ward B to Four Hills Nursing Home and neither my brother or myself were informed of the move.

We were aware that it was to happen and had been assured that we would be kept fully informed. When my brother visited my father this week he discovered an empty bed. When he made enquiries he was told that my father had been moved earlier that day and it was noted on the Friday that we had to be informed - this DID NOT happen.

We feel there is a general lack of true concern for patient welfare and family involvement. We will be making a formal complaint about this.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your feedback.

I am sorry that this posting was not acknowledged at the time, we had a break in our use of Patient Opinion, but we have now resumed doing so, and I thought it was still important to acknowledge your posting.

You raised a number of issues that are of concern and I have passed your comments on to the manager responsible for these services to share your experience with local staff.

I am sorry the lack of communication with your family caused these difficulties.

Paul
