"Lack of care and attention to detail"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

What I liked

The day shift nurses

What could be improved

Staff attentiveness and aware of their surroundings

Anything else?

I am currently in the amber b ward its after mid night and radio has been left on and all the lights are on. Conversations I have heard staff have with patients shows a complete lack of care.

My curtains were drawn whist I needed privacyand then left drawn for the remainder of th night.

The previous night the staff were attentive to ensure quiet and lights down from mid night.

I also found the staff during the day to be very good. It's a shame that it comes down to just who you get on the night. I'm now waiting to be told they can't find my paperwork and mistake me for another patient as has happened in the past. Worst of all.... I actually pay for this service!!

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of your stay on Amber A at Queen’s Hospital.

I have passed onto the Matron of Amber A your comments about your experience of the difference between two night shifts so that disturbances at night are kept to a minimum, to ensure patients receive the rest that they need.

Should you wish to discuss this matter further please contact a member of the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01708 435454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Gary Etheridge

Deputy Director of Nursing
