"If you're ever in Toronto, I'll stand you a pint...."

About: Royal United Hospital

What I liked

I had the bad fortune of breaking my leg badly on a cycling trip in SW England, but the good fortune to end up at the RUH.

While I am certain people in your country have grumbles about the National Health (I know that happens with our public health system here in Ontario also), the care I received was absolutely top quality. The staff on the Forrester Brown ward were outstanding, and not only to me - what struck me was the care and compassion by the staff towards the elderly patients who were there.

Each and every one of the nurses and other employees of the ward treated them with patience and dignity - it reminded me that sometimes the public forgets what a difficult job they have and how well they do it.

After a four day stay I am convinced that there is no possibility that this is an antidotal observation - from the ambulance crew, to the emergency room, to the hospital ward, you should be proud of the service you give to both your community and clumsy tourists such as myself.

What could be improved

The weather (that's really not your fault), the ambulance siren (why did England change from the 'nee-nee-nee-nee' to the 'whoop-whoop-whoop?), and Jeremy Kyle (not enough paternity test surprise episodes).

Anything else?

Thanks to all the staff at RUH involved with my care - awesome job guys!
