"Parking at Dewsbury Health Centre"

About: Dewsbury Health Centre

(as the patient),

Over the past few months I have been attending MSK at Dewsbury health centre. The staff are great and friendly.

The problem I have is with finding a parking space there in order to attend my appointment on time. They have coded barriers and regularly change the code. It does not help. People park in there and then pull up to the barrier and wait till someone with the code is leaving and then they can get out. It is a busy health centre so they don't wait long.

When I arrived today there were no spaces. I saw a child get in a car so asked the occupants if they were leaving. They replied that shortly they would. They moved to the barrier and I parked in the spot, locked my car and then saw them ask someone for the code who gave it to them.

More and more patients are missing appointments every month. The numbers are rising each month. I wonder how many of these are due to people unable to park because there are too many cheaters trying to avoid paying a charge in town.

A system where tickets are issued (even if it means a minimal cost) would prevent this if they can only get the tickets activated within the surgery and have to pay a much higher fee (£20-£50) to activate the ticket if they have not had an appointment. Only the doctors or consultants should have access to the machine to activate the exit ticket machine.

Something needs to be done about this problem.

Dear tearoseaime

Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. May I apologise for the length of time your post has been on here without an acknowledgement from Locala. I am looking into how this has occurred.

Dewsbury Health Centre is a privately owned building. However the landlords are currenlty exploring ways of monitoring the parking and inconsiderate users of the car park. I will post details of any changes on here in due course.

Thanks

Gemma
