"I enjoyed it the 10% course a lot but the after service is none existent"

About: Specialist services / Weight management service

(as a service user),

I attended 10% for the first time, I met a lot of people that were very friendly and as we chatted each of us listened. I told them what I wanted to achieve which to go to the gym and not bother what people think about me.

As a group we were told that we would taken to see what Armely Sports Centre has to offer. Although this never happened, the 8 weeks that I attended I made friends as it approached the end we all started to ask the same question. Which is- what do we do next?

After we all enjoyed it and formed friendships it would have been nice for something like 10% to continue even if we didn't get weighed or have the talk. But as it feels to me we have this for 8 weeks and have been forgotten about, we were informed that there would be something else but as for when and where they were unable to answer that. Although I enjoyed it a lot I feel the after service is none existent.

Dear Sozer353,

Thank you for your comments about the course you attended. It is good to hear what we do well and what we can improve. I am pleased that you enjoyed the course and formed friendships with other group members.

I am sorry that you did not get to see what the sports centre has to offer. At the end of the 8 week course, people are normally advised to speak with the Leeds Leisure Physical Activity Instructor who can offer additional support for a further 12 weeks. The support offered by Leeds Leisure service includes a variety of contacts, via telephone, email or one to one at leisure centres across the city. The instructors also support people to go to gym sessions and classes.

Following attendance at the group, the Weight Management Service offers monthly drop-ins at each leisure centre we work from. This is for people to talk to the course leader and be weighed. There is also the option of a free taster cooking session at The Ministry of Food in Leeds Market.

I am sorry that the options available to you after the 8 week course were not made clear. If you would like to try the gym or taster cooking sessions, please call me on 0113 843 2395.

Once again, thank you for your comments. The team will, in future, ensure that everyone is aware of the support that is on offer after the 8 week course.

Best wishes,

Anna Edwards on behalf of

The Weight Management Service
