"The GP was concerned and TRAQS failed to contact me"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS) The Princess Royal Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Consultant Endocrinologist discovered very low heart rate and heart beat pauses (2. 7 seconds) on 72 hour monitoring. He wrote to my GP recommending urgent referral to a Consultant Cardiologist. GP spoke to the registrar cardiologist, who suggested I be sent on same day to Princess Royal Hospital. at MAU, I did not see a cardiologist but a general doctor suggested that if my case worsened, action should be taken- a further 24 hour monitoring exercise was arranged for 3 weeks time. The GP was concerned and referred me for a consultants appointment through TRAQS. TRAQS failed to contact me and after 11 days from seeing my GP, a telephone enquiry revealed that an appointment was to be arranged after a further 39 days. I am now having to seek further advice from my GP.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback relating to you experience of using TRAQS.

TRAQS is a new service and values all feedback to help us to develop the service to meet the needs of the patients we support who are registered with GPs in the NHS Telford and Wrekin area.

Unfortunately if TRAQS are unable to offer an appointment date at the hospital of your Choice due to a lack of appointments, (as is the case currently for PRH and RSH cardiology appointments) TRAQS have no alternative but to passt the patient details to the chosen hospital who will contact the patient when they're able to offer a date to attend the clinic. If the patient is willing to travel to receive treatment at a hospital further away from home this can often mean an earlier appointment date. TRAQS do realise that this is not always an option for everyone but we will do our very best to book the earliest appointment possible to ensure the patient is seen as soon as possible and can then begin treatment.

If you would like to discuss your experience further please contact me on 01952 580441

Thank you for sharing your feedback including your concerns about the TRAQS service run by local GPs. I hope that this has been resolved for you by your GP.
