"no cpn nurse at my gp practice"

About: NHS Lothian

(as the patient),

I've waited 8 weeks on a referral to see a psychologist for my bipolar disorder. I was really manic today and asked to speak to my gp to be told with the bad attitude that my gp was off sick. I then asked if I could see another gp and was told no that I would have to wait until tomorrow. By this time I was getting more irate and asked if I could have an appointment with a cpn to be told my practice does not and never had one.

I assumed they would and couldn't believe that mental health patients again were being treated as bad as I was today. I feel the nhs is going backwards instead of forwards in my opinion. I think all gp practices should be made compulsory to employ a cpn especially when mentally ill patients have to wait months for a referral and even then you're not guaranteed a placement.

It feels like we don't have a voice and because we have mental health problems instead of a broken leg which doctors seem, to me, to treat more seriously. We're put at the bottom of the pile. Its just wrong,
