"Diabetes treatment: why can't my doctor be more approachable?"

When I was first diagnosed with diabetes two and a half years ago, it was mentioned to me that I would most likely need to have injections. I visited the doctor at my surgery who deals with the care for diabetics. He decided to treat me with tablets. I told him that the hospital had previously told me that I needed injections. I found him curt, arrogant, dismissive and unapproachable.

He was the only one I could see for my care at the surgery and sometimes I would come out in tears. It was then decided between us that I should receive insulin injections. After a while, I was also given the choice to have my treatment at the hospital or stay at the surgery. I choose the hospital because I had been treated so bad at the surgery.

The staff at the hospital were wonderful, excellent care. I have now been told this week that I will not be able to continue going to the hospital for treatment, it is only 7 minutes walk from where I live and very convenient. I now have to go back to being treated at the surgery.

I refuse to see the same doctor again and I am left with no choice but to have to change to another surgery which is further away. Why can't I continue my treatment at the hospital? I could speak to my normal doctor at the surgery and she could liaise with the dibetes doctor, but this is not an ideal situation. I am an elderly lady and getting to the hospital was very easy for me and I am very unhappy about this situation.
