What I liked
My mother was an in-patient in Clark Ward, and we were both very impressed with the helpfulness of all staff from cleaning and kitchen staff, to medical professionals. Everyone seemed to go out of their way to help my mother, and reassure us both, and my mother and I were particularly supported by her surgeon, anaesethetist and operating staff.
The standard of hygiene was outstanding, and I was pleased to notice that meals were placed within reach of patients, contrary to reports I have seen about other hospitals.
I feel that the Kent and Canterbury Hospital is an excellent example of what the National Health Service can do and be, at its best, and hope other hospitals will follow the example set here.
I would also like to express my appreciation of the volunteers who manned the shops, who were always so friendly, and gave me a welcome break from the hospital ward.
What could be improved
It was difficult for me to get through to the ward by telephone, but I know that staff are always so busy, so this was understandable.
Anything else?
I would feel much safer to be an in-patient at this hospital than others I have experienced, and much happier for my mother to be looked after by your excellent staff.
"Outstanding care, friendly staff, clean and safe..."
