"Planned surgery at Derriford hospital"

About: Derriford Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Hi!

In my experience, at Derriford you are "processed" through a pre-admission centre where nobody introduces themselves and nobody seemed to care.

I was given a letter for my admission day and this states a ward but that is not the ward I was on post op, and yet the letter does not tell you this!

The admission ward was cold and I had long long waits in chairs in freezing cold bays with windows open as the staff are HOT! Tough luck you are just in a theatre gown! My advice is take a dressing gown and slippers, as you have to walk down a very very long corridor to theatre and walk into the theatre... with no trolley or chair until you get there!

My personal belongings were tagged and transported around to wherever I ended up being admitted!

Nobody needs to get to know you and nobody seemed to care, as it just seemed like a processing centre......it feels like they get you in, cut you open and send you home asap!

Horrid and far below the care standards of the NHS.........my experience was appalling from start to finish!
