"Would CBT have been better than medication?"

About: Prescot Clinic / Assertive Outreach Team - Knowsley

(as a relative),

A relative had a difficult time adjusting her thoughts and was given medication to help her. There were many side effects, and in my opinion CBT would have been more helpful.

Yet when people are suffering from mental health, things seem harder - and maybe the doctors are doing the best they can.

Thank you for your taking the time to comment and I hope your relative is doing ok. Without knowing more about your relative and their condition, I couldn't comment on the suitability of CBT. However, if this is still an issue for your relative, then there are a couple of places to go for more help and information. First, I recommend that your relative talks to her key worker about this. There is also some very good information about CBT on the Mind website.
