What I liked
all without exeption on ward 3a were wonderful, day and night staff, catering ladies and cleaning staff,my stay was longer than excpected and i was feeling very low at times, the nurses were very sensertive and spent time with me even to give me a cuddle which was so lovely,
doctors did their rounds every morn, which gave me the opportunity to ask questions if i needed to. after a three week stay in ward 3a i saw and heard a lot, the nursing staff here are
so very patient and professional at all times, thankyou for looking after me.
What could be improved
the only issue i had was-i was told after having my lynph nodes in my groin and pelvis out i would have a drain in my leg for upto 3 weeks, but having an outreach service i would probably go home after 1 week or so, the day of my operation the drain nurse took ill herself and would be off for some time, this meant my stay and others who had a similar operation had to stay in hospital until the drain came out, in my case almost 3 weeks.
although i felt sorry for the outreach nurse being ill herself, i feel that it is ridiculous to have one nurse to cover the whole of merseyside and wales, i acctually voiced my feelings to the matron on ward 3a who told me it was a new service being offered, even it is a new service it is obvious that two drain nurses are needed to make the outreach service work properly.
because the outreach wasnt there for me and others,i had a longer stay in hospital that took its toll on me, also i was taking up a bed that meant other patients had to wait for my bed to come available.
"overall a lovely ward to be in, if having to be in..."
