What I liked
The staff were all really friendly, approachable and caring. When I was seen by the consultant, they explained things to me in full. They also took his time!
What could be improved
The urology department should tell patients what to realistically expect. For example, I went to A&E at the John Radcliffe, and on discharge was told I would be contacted about an outpatient appointment. I was told I should be seen within a week or two, but ended up waiting over 3 weeks to just get an appointment date (which was a further three weeks away). I'm happy to wait my turn for treatment - it would just be a lot better if I knew what was going on!
Also, communication with GP practices is poor: the consultant wants my GP to run some tests. But the GP can only do this after the letter arrives, which will take at least two weeks (surely it'll take a few seconds to fill in a pro-forma email and press send?!) . I hope they have a better system for patients with conditions far more serious than mine!
