What I liked

The staff were all very good and reassuring

What could be improved

My surgery was cancelled at the last minute after I had been admitted and prepared for surgery.

Despite the NHS stating that the surgery should be rescheduled and performed within 28 days, 3 weeks notice by letter or 2 alternatives by phone, I still do not have an appointment almost 5 weeks later.

By now, I should have been offered treatment at another hospital.

I have phoned several times, but never get a useful response or call back.

My complaint letter wont be answered until mid November.

By now, I should be well on the way to recovery from my surgery, but instead, I am still suffering in pain and unable to work.

It must be the easiest way to avoid adhering to the NHS guidance by simply ignoring patients.

Whilst I'm pleased to read our staff were all very good and reassuring, I'm concerned see that the rest of your experience of our hospital is not so positive. It looks as though you've already raised a complaint with us, but still don't have an answer. I'm really sorry you've been left without any information; and I appreciate how frustrated you must feel, especially as you continue to be in pain and are unable to work at the moment. Perhaps you'd like to email your details to me and I'll personally look in to your case? (communications@chesterfieldroyal.nhs.uk) I'll do my best to at least find out why you've heard nothing after five weeks, which is not acceptable - and see if I can get you some clarification about your operation date.
