"Endoscopy department very good - fantastic nursing..."

About: Leeds General Infirmary

What I liked

I had an upper GI endoscopy today at LGI. I was very anxious before the procedure due to previous bad experiences. The nurses were lovely and they dealt with my anxiety about the procedure very well - they talked me through everything, they worked together really well, and when I had problems swallowing the tube they stopped, and gave me sedation so it would be less traumatic. I don't remember the procedure at all in the end. They were very kind and attentive in the recovery area as well, and they explained the report at the end, what would happen next, and brought my partner in for it because I was still a bit out of it!

Anything else?

Obviously the procedure itself isn't pleasant, so the only thing I can think of that could have been improved was not having to have it! But seeing as I did have to, I couldn't fault the care I received at all.
