What I liked
I liked the fact that all conversations with nurses and doctors were conducted directly with Tom who was 12 at the time and I was always asked if I had any questions at the end of the conversation. It made Tom feel important and that he was agreeing to whatever they wanted to do with his body.
What could be improved
Transport to the hospital is a nightmare - often you feel that you have been forgotten. The food in the children's ward is not brilliant and could be improved.
Anything else?
Very impressed with the care from the Plastics Consultant - he is brilliant - he saved Tom's foot. Orthopaedics and Paediatrics were efficient and the nursing staff were absolutely fantastic. Tom has been in and out of hospital since March 2012 with 12 or so operations under his belt and everyone has made him feel special.
Thank you very much everyone at St Marys who helped.
