"experience was OK - but the ward would benefit..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

What I liked

I liked the fact there was a board in the area I was waiting, explaining some of the procedure of what happens before & after my operation (laparoscopy).

the staff nurses and student staff nurse that helped me were very helpful & friendly, but seem to have lots to do and sometimes forgot when they needed to attend to someone

What could be improved

prior to my op, I seem to have been asked the same questions over again, to which answers had already been given (my info was on file).

Whilst the staff work extremely hard, the communication with me after my operations could have been better. For example, my operations was carried out in the morning, and I thought that as my operation was fairly straight forward, I would be able to go home later that day, yet I was only told officially, later on in the day that I would have to stay in overnight. My husband who came to visit in the afternoon knew I'd have to stay in overnight before I was told (and I was wide awake).

Anything else?

the member of staff serving the evening drinks could have been less abrasive with patients. It was a case of, we would have to have what they had in their cupboard. Tea or coffee! She could not find any chocolate or malted drinks.
