What I liked
I had a great deal of faith in registerars and consultants but unfortunately communication with nursing staff was not good. I was told that I was going for a fasting scan and when I queried why I hadn't gone down at 2pm I was told that it had been cancelled and anyway there was no need to fast for this particular test!
On one occasion I was given the wrong tablet but fortunately was well enough to realise this before taking it. Found some of the nurses sullen. Realise they were short staffed but they gave me very little confidence.
When I was sent to ward from CDU it was early evening. The bed was not made up and the nurse that took me up to the ward had an argument with nurse on duty in the ward and left me sitting in a wheelchair on oxygen, by an unmade bed.
I did inform consultant of the respiratory ward who said he would speak to sister as it was not good enough.
What could be improved
Nursing
Anything else?
The medical treatment whilst I was in hospital was brilliant. After a few days I was given my own room as I have a very low immune system and medically from both haematology and respiratory teams cannot fault it.
"If I have to be hospitalised again would be happy..."
