"7 hours for diagnosis that could have been done..."

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

What I liked

Reception staff, very helpful, very mixed message from staff in A & E some very good some poor.

Excellent facilities.

What could be improved

Communication poor between departments.

Husband left on a trolley for long time outside X Ray as porters dont come back for you when they drop you off. ( x-ray took us back twice ) It is apparent that they are employed by a different company to rest of staff. Management could improve the time patients spend in A & E by basic simple changes in processes to make dept so much more efficient/ slicker. This would allow a quicker turn around of patients, and more job satisfaction for nursing staff.

Appreciate it is difficult to diagnose some things but doctor did not want to listen. Please some times patients know their bodies and where the pain is from !!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on the NHS Choices Website. We are sorry to hear of your concerns regarding the Emergency Department at Wythenshawe Hospital.

We would like to apologise if your husband was left waiting for a porter outside the X-ray Department. The porters at UHSM transport patients to the wards as well as from the Emergency Department to X-ray and this sometimes causes delays. However, if the Emergency Department is busy, other staff will help if they are able to.

Unfortunately, without more details we are unable to comment on your concerns regarding the doctor. However, we would encourage you to contact the Patient Experience Team at the hospital on 0161 291 5600 or via email address pls@uhsm.nhs.uk or you can talk to Alicia Lucas, the Matron for Patient Experience on 0161 291 2055 or email at Alicia.lucas@uhsm.nhs.uk

Kind regards

The Patient Experience Team
