About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

What I liked

Having had my second baby at Dewsbury on the MLU, I didn't think twice about using the hospital again for my third. Arrived at the hospital to find the MLU no longer there, which was dissapointing as I was never advised of this during my booking in appoitment, as it happens this turned out not to be too much of an issue as my daughter arrived within 7 mintues of arriving at the hospital. All the staff were friendly, even the midwife who took my call only an hour before came in to see us. Plenty of supply of tea and toast for both me and hubby. The only negative was the length of time taken to move me from delivery to post delivery ward, this was due to the weather, yes my daughter was born in April when it snowed and the phones were not working properly, so everyone was coming in! My only main issue came once on the ward, no TV? even the children ward has these, and the room where the food is served leaves a little to be deisired! The staff were lovely and helpful, but it took from 8am till 4pm to be discharged due to trying to get the dr and the midwife to complete the paperwork. Overall I would be happy to go back again, just needs a bit of updating on post delivery ward for me.
