What I liked
The Nursing care in hospital was very good, the Nurses and Surgeons had a good sense of humour which helped put me at ease some times.
What could be improved
I was taken into A+E on Tuesday 29th May 2012 and admitted to ward 25 Colorectal at around 3am on Wednesday 30th May with Inflammation of the Gall Bladder. I was however discharged at approximately 12pm that day and sent home with no aftercare.
I was then readmitted at 6am on Saturday 2nd June after being rushed into A+E for a second time despite being sent home the previous week.
I was refused my prescribed anti-depressants and anti-anxiety tablets for 48 hours as the hospital Doctor did not give the ward permission to administer them.
My cannula's were not inserted properly and constantly slipped out resulting in me having 13 cannula's in the space of 6 days when I was told each was supposed to stay in for 5 days.
Post surgery I was told my dressings would not be changed despite there being significant discharge and obvious infection, resulting in me still being on antibiotics to date 7 weeks after being discharged.
I have also been told by numerous GP's and Nursing staff that I should not have been discharged so soon after my operation and with no post-operative advice or care given.
Anything else?
The Nurses did their best in the circumstances restricted by government dogma and pen pushing.
"Depressing, an eye-opener."
