"Good care but poor facilities at the Nottingham City Hospital"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus

(as the patient),

In July 2007, I had to stay in the City Hospital, Nottingham for rheumatism problems, and after an outpatient visit, they kept me in for 2 nights. I was found a bed in Ashwell ward, and as per usual, the nursing staff were wonderful, despite being overworked. There were some difficult patients in the same ward, and I observed the nursing staff having to put up with some very bad verbal abuse.

Unfortunately, there were no shower or bathing facilities in the ward and the toilets were not very clean. Also, when I was discharged, the pharmacists lost all the medicine I had taken with me - as it was in the evening, the pharmacies were closed and no-one seemed able to resolve the problem for me. Nevertheless, I still have the highest regard for the staff at the City Hospital.
