"Shameful A&E department, incapable doctors and..."

About: Grantham & District Hospital

What could be improved

I visited the A&E department in Grantham after a head injury only to be questioned as to why I had even come to A&E as I was totally fine. The day after, still feeling unwell, I made a visit to Peterborough hospital where doctors carried out the appropriate tests and performing a CT scan of my head and finding that I had a skull fracture. Not only had Grantham totally failed to identify anything wrong with me they failed to carry out mandatory tests and made me feel as though I were a time waster. I would suggest anyone needing emergency treatment avoid Grantham at all costs as they are totally incompetent and extremely rude. I will be making an official complaint about their services and the useless doctor that treated me.

I am so sorry for your clearly very worrying visit to our A&E department at Grantham Hospital. I passed on your story to our team there and asked them to try and find out what had happened but as we dont have further details from you it has been difficult to look into.

Sometimes clinical issues do not always appear immediately on tests and this may have been a factor but without further information I am unable to comment with any credibility. That said, you left us feeling as if you were wasting peoples time and I am very sorry for this - that should not be the case and staff have been told of your experience and how you felt.

If you would like me to investigate this further could you please contact me via: patient.involvement@ulh.nhs.uk?

Thank you again and once again my apologies.
