What I liked
I suffer with Amelogenesis Imperfecta (a rare enamel condition) and was treated at the Charles Clifford Dental Centre's restorative department. The treatment was initially a great success and made a huge improvement on my quality of life.
What could be improved
Treatment failed after I had been discharged, however I was re-referred and retreated a second time. I attended every appointment except the last one (which I called and cancelled in advance due to work commitments). I never received any further communication. Months later some of the treatment failed again, however they refused to see me and said I had now been discharged and would have to pay for the cost of the maintenece at my own expense.
At no point during the treatment was I made aware that I would eventually be liable for the upkeep of the treatment (which can only be received on a private basis - which I cannot afford). Despite appealing the descision, I was refused again. I now have two missing veneers, several which have fallen off but thankfully I have been able to get re-bonded and some which are loose. I cannot afford to replace the missing ones and my teeth look worse than before I began treatment. I cannot "un-do" the treatment as my teeth have been heavily filed down to accomodate the crowns and veneers which continue to fail. My confidence has been destroyed - the very thing Charles Clifford was suppost to be helping me improve.
Anything else?
If you do not need to be treated there, don't be - you will be liable for the lifetime maintenece cost of any work they do, and being as I have 16 teeth treated which continually fail, at a cost of £400-£800 per tooth privately, it's impossible to maintain. If I could have afforded to have my teeth restored in the first place I wouldn't have needed Charles Clifford. Hoprital is great when they need you, but there is no aftercare and nobody tells you that you are responsible for maintaining your "new teeth" at a cost no normal human being could afford.
"Great when they needed me to practice on - not..."
