My mum was admitted to the Barnsley District General for a hip replacement last November, and I was absolutely disgusted with the standard of care I felt she received. When we visited, the ward was filthy; she had to share toilets with males, which seemed totally unacceptable! Medication was given late, and there appeared to be no aftercare for my mum, with me even having to change her dressings for her. Basically, I feel that she has been left to her own devices with no-one to check on her.
