What I liked
The closeness of the hospital is brilliant. Easy to get to and a nice, small unit.
What could be improved
There were several chairs in the waiting area with blood on them and the chairs were filthy. The receptionist was curt and gave us no indication of how long our wait would be to see the out-of-hours doctor.
We had to wait nearly 3 hours for my 9 month old son to see the doctor and didn't leave until 10pm. On a Monday night this was rather unexpected but most annoying was the fact that the last person left after seeing the doctor and no-one else was called in for nearly an hour. We later learnt that the doctor was dealing with NHS Direct phone calls too but this was not mentioned to us. Several people walked out without having been treated as they had waited so long without explanation. In addition, a lady had to struggle with her sick son to get him out of a chair, whilst the doctor looked on and did not offer any kind of assistance. I felt that this was a total lack of compassion and care.
"Great facility but the lack of care and attention..."
