"Hospital comment"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

Better cleanliness of both inside and outside A&E Dept.

Overflowing rubbish bins, Aircon in waiting area, having just one member of family attend instead of 4 in waiting area who take up seats, vomit beeing cleaned up in waiting area etc.

Anything else?

My wife had an x ray here, and will be our first and last visit to this hospital which resembled a dump and like a cattle market.Xray dept thought it was her wrist that needed to be xrayed, but it was her foot, so wrong info passed on, seemed like total confusion throughout, dirty waiting area which was so hot and needed aircon, and we were in there for 3 hours.Dirty men's toilet, with cracked overflowing syston. One women with her baby should have been seen straight away, instead had to wait for ages, but the baby was in so much distress.Someone sitting in front of us had vomited, no one cleaned it up for the last hour we were there.I could go on.

Fortunately we live in Devon, and the Exeter Hospital is far superior.

Im very sorry your visit to our hospital was not a good experience for you and that there was a communication issue around your wife's x ray.

I will pass on your comments regarding the x ray and the cleanliness to the A & E department.

I would like to hear more about the concerns as on the occasions when we don’t meet our normally high standards we try to learn from experiences so that we can improve the care for our future patients.

If you would like to talk to us regarding your concerns you can do so by contacting our Patient Experience Team either by telephone 01227 783145 or via email at PatientExperience@ekht.nhs.uk who will be happy to help you.
