"Excellent care and staff"

About: Friarage Hospital Site

What I liked

The treatment my daughter received was exceptional & I therefore cannot believe there is the risk of the maternity department closing. It is a total disgrace

What could be improved

Nothing, apart from keeping the department open so that more expectant mothers can have the same excellent degree of care that my daughter received.

Anything else?

Keep the Maternity department open.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the maternity services at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.

NHS Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which is leading the public consultation around children’s and maternity services at the Friarage Hospital, has at present put the process on hold. The announcement was made after the Board of NHS North Yorkshire and York confirmed that it would not include an option to retain a consultant-led paediatric and maternity service at The Friarage Hospital in the formal consultation process as it was not clinically sustainable. The CCG now anticipates that the North Yorkshire Overview and Scrutiny of Health Committee, which meets on 9 November, will refer the consultation process to the Secretary of State for review, so has decided to pause the consultation until it has received the Health Secretary’s feedback. Further updates will be available on www.nyypct.nhs.uk/Friarage Hospital.

Thank you
