"A gratifying and lifesaving one"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

What I liked

I was taken ill at home on 31 March this year with what is now believed to be a heart failure caused by arrhythmia.

This letter is formal thanks for all the professional care given by all staff to me in what was very difficult times for my family.

I was taken to Chorley by the paramedics who were absolutely outstanding in the work they undertook to resuscitate me. Their response time from inception of the phone call to arrival was exceptional!

I was kept at Chorley for a short while before being taken to Preston. I staid in Preston until 18 April whereby I was then take to the Cardiac unit at Blackpool, leaving there on 3 May.

Without firstly the work undertaken by the paramedics before arrival at Chorley and the work of the staff whilst at Chorley I doubt if I would be alive today. To all of them I owe my gratitude and sincere thanks.

Secondly without the professional care and consideration I received in Preston I doubt if I would have made such an excellent recovery.

In both circumstances it was every member of staff, whether medical or supportive, who gave me that individual care that my condition needed.

Please pass on my very grateful thanks to all concerned at Chorley, the Ambulance Service, the Cardio Care Unit and other areas at Preston.

In what are undoubtably difficult financial times for the NHS I can only admire the dedication and professionalism of all your colleagues in the way they treated me.

I would have liked to have mentioned them all by name but feel that would seem like singling out one or two when all helped and I would be afraid of overlooking an individual who helped in my recovery.

Additionally please pass onto to all concerned my grateful thanks for helping my family overcome the trauma caused by the chain of events surrounding my sudden illness.
