"Excellent greeting, appalling treatment by..."

About: York Hospital

What I liked

I have to say that I have had a similar experience to the second commenter on here. I had only excellent experience of the receptionist who greeted me at the reception area. I had a completely different experience with the consultant that saw me. She asked me to go over my condition and symptoms then proceeded to overtalk me when I suggested that she was wrong in her diagnosis, when I told her I had my inner ears declared in good working order in another department of the hospital she then went on to tell me that my balance problem was not down to my rare neurological condition but to an abnormality in my inner ear. Also that my symptoms are not down to my condition (although my neurosurgeon admitted they were!) and that I should go back to my GP, who had sent me there to neurology in the first place. The fact that this doctor also pulled my head violently to one side, proceeding to make me cry (I have serious balance issues and she did not warn me that she was going to do that). She made me feel sick and extremely dizzy. She did apologise but I would have thought that someone still recovering from brain surgery and having tender neck and head issues should not be treated in this way. I understand from searching for this doctor on google that she didn't normally work in this department and had come from another NHS Trust area to take this appointment. I am not a happy bunny and will be seeking a second opinion and also making a formal complaint.

Anything else?

Please note that I am not normally the sort of person to complain. I would normally deal with whatever was told to me, however, the complete dismissal of the symptoms of my condition is ignorance in its best form.
