What I liked
I enjoyed being cared for and I especially appreciated the food and the variety of the meals. I thought it was wonderful that I could order a sandwich during the night and early hours, and also that I could have a cup of tea at any time during the night.
I found the vast majority of the nursing staff very helpful and the doctors were all excellent in their bedside manner and explanation of what had happened to me.
The only people who were a bit of a pain, were some of the patients who sadly showed very little appreciation for the services offered by such a wonderful hospital.
I compare the care given with other countries I have been familiar with and am very appreciative for such a wonderful service as the NHS provides at the Royal Hospital Sunderland.
What could be improved
When I went for an ultra sound scan, I missed the midday meal and on returning to the ward E54 at the time I found the meal trolley had been returned to the kitchen. I eventually found a nurse who very kindly ordered a meal for me from the canteen. The two other nurses in the ward, who were feeding elderly patients, when I returned from the scan, took no notice of my requests for some food to be brought. If it hadn't of been for this other nurse who came on later, I would have gone hungry.
That is my only complaint.
"Very satisfied"
