"Prolonged wait"

About: Devon Access and Referral Team (DART)

(as the patient),

March 2012 Saw Gp who arranged Xray of ankle

April 2012 Referred by GP for orthopaedic opinion after local x ray confirms diagnosis

May 2012 Received letter from DART. responded. Told will be put on list

August 2012 Attended OPs. Told will receive appointment for injection +/ - 6 weeks

During this prolonged delay clinical situation has worsened, causing exacerbation of arthritis/pain, in both knees. Constant pain and limited walking. If treatment ( which will only be temporary & " Diagnostic") happens in six weeks, then total wait from GP referral will be 25 weeks. In my view this is well outside NHS constitution

“Dear ‘Cokesputt’,

Thank you for feeding back to us about your experience of using the service and I’m sorry that you are not happy with how your referral has progressed.

Without knowing more about the specifics of your referral, it is difficult for me to answer your questions. I would like to investigate further for you and so, if you are willing, I would be grateful if you could give me a call with your details so that I can look into what happened. My phone number is 01626 883712 and I work Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm.

Kind regards,

Gemma Tremlett”
