1 while you were in hospital did you get your Parkinson’s medication on time?
Some of the time
2. Did staff understand the importance of getting your Parkinson’s medication on time?
No the don’t understand the importance of getting it on time. They don’t talk about it until I mention it. There was just one nurse who understood.
3. Tell us about your experiences of being able to manage your own Parkinson’s medication in hospital.
When I was first in hospital they let me manage my Parkinson’s medication myself. I had given them my record with all the different pills by name, what dose, when to take them. They put it on their computer and they got in a compete muddle with my tablets.
4. Any other comments?
On about the second day towards the afternoon a nurse with the medication trolly asked me why I was taking tablets myself and that they should be locked in the locker but I couldn’t have the key as it wasn’t that hospital’s policy. So guess what, tablets weren’t taken on time after that!
