"Trying to get help for our neighbour"

About: South London And Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

(as a service user),

me & my girlfriend called both the ladywell unit and then SLAM to tell them of our concerns about our next door neighbour who has been sleeping rough in the street. He doesnt know where he is, forgets things, is in a wheel chair and nothing has been done. We hear today that that he has been robbed while sleeping.

I wonder what is the use of all these different teams - police, mental health, social work when it seems they have done nothing for months leading to this now happening to him.

We tried to talk to him but now is so scared he just shuts his eyes. I feel this is such a waste of services.

I feel like the services that are failing him should be ashamed of themselves. He needs help.

Dear Martinrita

Thank you for letting us know about this. I'm sorry that you have not found our services helpful so far. If you could send me your neighbour's name and/or where he can be found, we will organise a welfare check asap. You can email me on lucy.canning@slam.nhs.uk or call me 020 3228 2344 - I may not be available when you call, but you can give the details to my PA, Mafo who will make sure I get them if I'm not available.

Best wishes,

Lucy
