"Labral hip tear"

About: Hampshire PCT Queen Alexandra Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I have recently discovered that the NHS postcode lottery is still very much alive and well! Following a recent fulroscopy, MRI scan and consultation with the specialist, (who I would like to add is very much on the patients side in this matter), I have been diagnosed with a labral tear which is causing me severe pain in my left hip joint.

I am in my early 30's and work as a preschool practitioner which involves being on my feet most of the day, I also actively take part in alot of community work with a local scout group and perform in the local scout organised gangshow each year, all of which I now feel are at risk of being lost due to the fact that the Hampshire NHS are not prepared to fund the keyhole operation required. I am also frustated to learn that if I resided in any of the neighbouring counties of West Sussex, Dorset or Wiltshire then the operation would be available, so why not Hampshire?

I feel that the rules need to be changed as the labral hip tear is not an uncommon condition and affects a great deal of people in this area.
