"Good experience of recent spinal surgery"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital / Neurosurgery

(as the patient),

I cannot speak too highly of my recent stay in the Neurosciences Ward where I had surgery to fuse my vertebrae. The surgeon, his staff, the anaesthetist, the junior doctors, the nurses were all so pleasant and help that I was almost sorry to leave.

I always like to know peoples' names and was soon on first-name terms with the junior doctors, two of who - both originally from Nigeria - were particularly great chaps, helpful and interested in me.

My stay in this ward was in stark contrast to a recent follow-up visit to the Eye Hospital Out-Patients Dept which seems in need of a refresher-course in the handling of parients. I should be glad to go into more detail if required.

I was pleased to hear your treatment and care was very good during your stay on the Neurosciences Ward. However, I see that your experience at the Eye Hospital was less than satisfactory, should you wish us to respond to your concerns in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me, my name is Deborah Dunn, Complaints Operational Manager and you can call me on 01865 223257 or email me at complaints@ouh.nhs.uk.
