"Concerns about bullying amongst staff"

About: Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

(as a service user),

I am receiving medication and psychological therapies due to depression and suicidal thoughts. My care team are excellent, and I could not hope for better care.

I have informed them that I believe my issues are connected to bullying and harrassment by collegues at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Year on year, the annual staff survey has shown a substantial amount of workers experiencing bullying. These workers often say their seniors do not support them in reporting incidents or support them once it has been disclosed.

Thank you for your positive comment about your care team and the services that you are receiving.

I am worried though that you have concerns about the levels of bullying and harassment in the organisation - reported incidents of bullying and harassment have actually dropped over the past three years with the overhaul of our dignity at work policy and service user and carer bullying and harassment policy.

All senior managers have undertaken bullying and harassment awareness training. However this clearly does not resonate with your personal experiences and we would like to know more about them so that we can address any problem areas.

Our HR director Sarah Daniel would welcome contact from you either on her trust email or phone number or our Patient Advice and Liaison service (PALS) can pass on a message. Whether or not you chose to contact Sarah Daniel, PALS is very happy to talk through the issues you have raised and look at ways of resolving them with you. Their contact details are:

East Sussex and Brighton 01323 446 042

West Sussex 01903 843 185
