"Fantastic care at The Royal Sussex County Hospital"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was sent to the Royal Sussex County Hospital by my GP for investigations.

I went to A&E where I thought I was in for a long wait, which I was but it didn't matter. As a nurse myself I am always keen to see how NHS staff communicate with patients and the care that is given.

From the moment I arrived to the moment I left I was treated fantastically by everyone I met. The receptionist in A&E was polite and efficient, the nurses professional and kind, the doctors superb.

I was told I needed to have a lumbar puncture which I was not keen to have done at all. The doctor took time to explain the risks of not having it done and explored my reasons for not wanting it. I then made a decision to have the procedure which I gave full and informed consent to.

The procedure was not straightforward but the doctor, who I believe was called 'Steve' (the registrar to Dr Quinn), was brilliant. He was kind, professional, human and generally great.

The NHS is knocked so frequently but my experience was first class. I have been a patient at RSCH before and I can only say I am really pleased it is my local hospital. Well done everyone, I am very proud of the NHS and to work for them and hope this feedback reaches those who cared for me.
