"Please remember that people need dignity"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Radiology

(as the patient),

Having taken a seat in the second waiting room outside the MRI scanner nearly all the people also waiting for scans were outpatients in for various scans. Everyone was in outdoor clothes.

Soon after a lady in a pale green uniform wheeled an 80 something lady in. She 'parked' her in the middle of all of us and said "Just wait here and they will take you to X-ray! "

The lady had a flimsy cotton nightdress on.  Not even a long one. . and I sat there and thought,  how would I feel plonked in the middle of a busy department to wait in my cotton nightie? What if I was naked all but that cotton nightie?

My scan lasted an hour. . when I came out she was still there. . she had been processed and was waiting for pick up. . still in her nightie. .

It's not my first scan there. . I noticed it last time.

I just wonder if anyone has noticed this? In a hospital environment it would be easy to forget that people need dignity.

If I happen to end up in your care, unwell. . please at least cover my legs and put a cardi on me.
